Infrared Moisture Balance is an instrument for measuring the moisture content of materials that do not change their chemical structure while loosing water under exposure to infrared radiation. The instrument is widely used for testing chemicals, pharmaceuticals, tea industries, flour mills, cement plants, soils used in construction, agricultural soils, foods and similar materials.

The moisture content of a product is the weight of water present with respect to its dry weight expressed as a percentage with the Infrared Moisture Meter. The moisture is driven out by infrared radiation.

A pan attached to a torsion wire balance holds the sample. The drying takes place continuously and the weighing is done simultaneously which makes the instrument specially suitable for materials which quickly absorb moisture.

The instrument consists of a 250 W infrared bulb, a sensitive torsion balance with magnetic damping, a controller for regulating the voltage, all housed in a compact cabinet of aluminium finished in an attractive stove baked enamel. The instrument is directly calibrated in percentage of moisture. A 'L' shaped thermometer indicates temperature in the chamber. The instrument is supplied with a dozen disposable pans.
